United Against Buena Vista !
Join our coalition of neighbors, organizations, and allies to protect Solano Canyon, Chinatown, Lincoln Heights, and Dogtown from the harm of the Buena Vista Project!
What is the Buena Vista Project?
Buena Vista is a proposed 986-unit mixed-use luxury development on the eastern edge of Chinatown, directly adjacent to Los Angeles State Historic Park and above Solano Canyon. While the project includes 200 affordable units and is promoted as transit-oriented development near the Chinatown Metro station, its scale—featuring 26- and 22-story towers—would dramatically reshape the historic, low-rise character of Chinatown and place new pressure on surrounding working-class, immigrant, senior, and renter communities.
We, the communities behind United Against Buena Vista, are concerned that the Draft EIR underestimates the project’s impacts, including displacement, cultural erasure, construction noise and vibration, traffic, infrastructure strain, loss of views and privacy for Solano Canyon, and the cumulative effects of luxury development around the State Historic Park. For many residents and advocates, Buena Vista represents more than one building project: it is part of a broader pattern of development that risks turning historic neighborhoods, public park-adjacent land, and culturally rooted communities into profit-driven real estate opportunities without meaningful community control, deep affordability, or enforceable protections.
Let’s make sure the City hears from the people who will actually live with the consequences.
